Avril was a lovely young girl and born to wise parents who yielded from past histories of mythical beings. The stories and legends had been so long ago that neither side of the families believed there were any powers left to be received. As she was the first born of this union and with no sign of any miraculous blessings, the families continued life as normal.

Avril was beautiful to all who laid eyes upon the young child- this the family did not notice as a sign from the Heavens. Everywhere they went, people noticed the young child. She always behaved and her parents were proud of her maturity and kindness. She tried different crafts, sports, and schooling, which she excelled in all. But she secretly had a love for gardening fruits and vegetables. She felt her family would be insulted and laugh at her, since she was a child.

One day during her twelfth year, she was playing a soccer double header. It was an intensely hot day. She wanted a cool refreshment and went with teammates to get fresh cut fruit. As Avril got her container of honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries, and pineapple, a parent yelled, “Don’t eat the watermelon seeds” as some giggled, others smiled, and some just didn’t care. Her teammates all shook their heads at how silly parents could be. But the fruit seller touched Avril’s elbow and leaned close to her ear as Avril was swallowing down chunk after chunk of watermelon and said,

“You should not eat the watermelon seeds!” Advil was truly astonished and asked why? The dark eyed woman said “because the seeds will plant in Your stomach and You will grow watermelons.” Her teammates began laughing, then the woman continued. “This will start during your first harvest.”

Avril told her parents, but as they went to look for the fruit stand there was a sign saying that they were “Sold Out for Today”. Her parents thought the exchange was odd, but were more concerned because Avril was upset. Just with their whole lives, nothing was alarming, so they continued as normal.
